Communications Specialist
About Carmen

About : Welcome
I have always had a critical eye in analyzing the world around me, making my decision to study at Western University’s Faculty of Information and Media Studies an easy one. Majoring in Media, Information and Technoculture opened my eyes to the world of journalism, communications, marketing and critical theory.
While pursuing my undergraduate degree, I became passionate about writing, photography and videography, joining a community of dedicated creatives at the Western Gazette, where I put pen to paper, practicing journalism and learning the importance of clear communication.
During my internship at the City of London, I developed a passion for public relations. Helping to establish a city project with a group of dedicated public relations experts, I felt like my work was making a positive contribution to the local community.
Following my undergraduate, I was able to gain exposure to agency work at Smithcom Reputation Management, a bustling crisis management firm in the heart of Toronto, Ont. Working on everything from press releases and social media management to event planning and digital advertising, I felt confident and ready to lead a communications plan.
Currently, I am looking to join a communications team in municipal government relations. If you are interested in getting a coffee with me to learn more about my exposure within the industry and to get to know me better, click here.
